05/12/2017 – Notification of major gas works: Molesey

All residents should be aware that Scotia Gas Networks have planned in upgrades to the gas network in Molesey. These essential works involve the replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to the local area. Their contractors, KLT Construction, will undertake this work..

Residents may remember they carried out work in the area earlier this year. They were unable to complete the work due to engineering difficulties encountered. They looked at a number of options to overcome these difficulties while minimising disruption and now have two projects taking place to complete the work. They want to share the details of these with residents

“So that we can minimise disruption, we have carefully consulted and planned our works in close partnership with Surrey County Council and will continue to do so throughout our works.

Here is a short breakdown of each project:
Project 1 – Walton Road, East Molesey
This project starts on 02 January 2018 and is expected to last until 23 March 2018
We will be working in Walton Road between Dennis Road and Hansler Grove
There will be a temporary road closure of Walton Road at the junctions of Dennis Road, Park Road and Kent Road at different stages of the project (access will be maintained for residents and a signed diversion in place for all through traffic)
Bus stops within our work area will be suspended
Multi-way temporary traffic lights will be in use
Parking may be suspended in sections as required

Project 2 – Walton Road, West Molesey
This project starts on 26 March 2018 and is expected to last until 01 June 2018
We will be working in Walton Road from the junction of Rosemary Avenue to the junction of Grange Road
Bus stops within our work area will be suspended
Multi-way temporary traffic lights will be in use
Parking may be suspended in sections as required

So that we can explain more about our work and discuss access arrangements with residents, we have organised a drop-in session at Molesey Football Club, 412 Walton Road, West Molesey, KT8 2JG on Tuesday 12 December. You are welcome to attend at any time between 10am and 8pm.

Members of our project team will be on hand to answer questions and talk through our plans in more detail. Maps and plans of our work will also be on display. You are welcome to attend at any time.

We are producing a bespoke leaflet to provide further information about these projects, copies will be available at our drop-in session and I will send you a digital copy shortly.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Molesey residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

All businesses in the local area will remain open as usual. We do have a compensation scheme in place for local businesses which suffer a genuine loss of trade because of our work. Packs are available from our website, sgn.co.uk, via the Publications section.

I hope I have been able to reassure you of our commitment to deliver a safe project and keep you updated. If you have any further questions, please let me know.” –
