Lower Mole Flood Alleviation Scheme – Community Engagement Launch
The Environment Agency (EA) has set up a new interactive website detailing their proposed options for
updating the Lower Mole flood alleviation scheme.
As they are not able to hold a face to face event at this current time they have set up this
temporary website (www.lowermolefloodalleviationscheme.co.uk) for 7 weeks to promote
and allow conversations between the community and their project team. The website will give
local people information about the scheme, give them the opportunity to ask questions and
place their ideas and feedback on an interactive map of the area.
For those in the community not online the EA will be offering to send out printed materials and
arrange telephone consultations. This can be arranged through their customer contact centre
on 03708 506 506. They will also be working with the communications team at Elmbridge
Borough Council to make sure information about the scheme is as accessible and inclusive
as possible.
The new website will present the EA’s options alongside new information such as potential environmental benefits, cost, carbon footprint and potential impacts to
water levels.
The EA says no decisions have been made on how it will progress with
selecting a final option. They will consider all the feedback they receive
from this round of engagement and will provide more information on next steps e will come back to you and the community later in the
year with more information on the next steps later in the year.
for further information you can contact or the area team on 0208 474 6848.
For any matters unrelated to the River Mole please continue to contact Julia Simpson via
