2010/2011 Spring Bus Service Review
Letter from MRA Councillor Mike Axton concerning the Spring bus review.
Dear Mr Bradley
2010/2011 Spring Bus Service Review
I am submitting comments to the Spring Bus Service Review on behalf of the Molesey Residents Association (MRA). The MRA is a major local organisation representing the residents of Molesey, and holds all 9 Molesey seats on Elmbridge Borough Council, and the West Molesey seat on Surrey County Council.
Our principal interest is in the 411 (Kingston to West Molesey) and 461 (West Molesey to Teddington schools) services.
The 411 is an extremely popular and well used service. We do have concerns, however, about the capacity of the service at peak times, when the buses carry large numbers of commuters and schoolchildren. At these times the bus can be extremely crowded and uncomfortable, particularly for elderly passengers and those with disabilities. And frequently some passengers are unable to get on the bus at all. This is a real problem every day during school term times, and we would therefore ask Transport for London to increase capacity, either by running additional services or double-decker buses, at these peak times. Additional services would also be warranted over the Christmas period, and during the Hampton Court Flower Show.
The 461 service is also popular, but does not run on a Sunday, and I would be grateful if you could consider a limited Sunday service for this route.
Yours Sincerely
Mike Axton
