UPDATED: AIRCRAFT NOISE IN MOLESEY
MRA Councillor Stuart Selleck has now received a further update from local MP Dominic Raab. The Director of External Affairs at Heathrow Airport has advised Mr Raab that some local residents may have experienced a higher volume of air traffic disturbance following the ending of the airspace trials on 12 November. This was because after the trials ended, the airport was on an “easterly operations” programme, which apply for around 30% of any given year, and would have done so regardless of the trials. Heathrow have confirmed, however, that from 5 December its “westerly operations” programme has applied, meaning that residents should no longer be experiencing disruption in excess of that which applied before the trials began.
Although Heathrow have assured us that the trials ended on 12 November, and that aircraft noise should have returned to the their pre-trial levels, we have continued to receive complaints from local residents who are continuing to experience disproportionate noise above the levels that existed before the trials began. MRA Councillor Stuart Selleck has therefore contacted our local MP, Dominic Raab, and he has advised us that he has written to Mr Nigel Milton, the Policy Director at Heathrow, for a clear explanation of the position. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information.
