Illegal mooring around Molesey
Eversince the London Borough of Richmond introduced a by – law preventing illegal mooring along their stretch of the Thames , Molesey and Molesey residents have been affected . Slowly but surely more and more boats have arrived in our area and are causing health and rubbish issues along the embankment .
Cllr Stuart Selleck along with a number of residents have spent much time and effort in asking the Council to not only address the immediate health issues , but to bring forward a long term solution . The difficulty is that it is not clear sometimes who owns the various parts of the riverbank and therefore who has responsibility to police it. The Council has tried to respond by bringing in the Metropolitan marine response team to assist in finding how other Boroughs and agencies deal with this issue. We have even noticed any increasing number of boats moored by the bridge adjacent to the Hampton Court Station. Hardly a great advert for visitors to the area .
Residents can be assured that we are pushing the Council to resolve this situation in the best interests of the residents and will keep you up to date on any developments.
