Langley’s Record Store – Royal Mail development plans threaten future of record shop
Some residents may be aware of Langley’s Record Store which has been in existence at is current location on the Walton Road for over 40 years. Geoff Langley the owner is under pressure by Royal Mail (the owners of the site) to move out in order that the space can be converted to a new customer service point and toilets.
A good article regarding this matter can be found here:
It is sad when any local retail store disappears so please show your support by visiting the store. There was a online petition for Langleys, which gained over 2000 signatures. And there is hope that either an agreement can be reached with the Royal Mail.
MRA is concerned about expansion of the Sorting Office with associated parking and safety issues, plus loss of Langleys; and we are concerned about plans to redevelop part of the industrial estate off Pool Road for housing, as this land has protected status under planning provisions for employment purposes. MRA believes a better option would be for Royal Mail to relocate the sorting office to the industrial estate, and we seeking urgent discussions with them about this.
