Molesey Sea Scouts – Revised Proposals
In 2016 the 1st Molesey (Jaguar) Sea Scouts submitted a planning application (2016/2760) for a boat storage facility and water activity centre on land by the River Thames at Hurst Park.
The Scouts previously had a riverside base further up the Thames towpath, but they were forced to leave this some years aqo when the land on which it was sited was earmarked for gravel extraction. Although there was considerable support for the Scouts’ ambition of returning to a riverside base, this application was ultimately withdrawn in the light of concerns and objections raised by a number of organisations and individuals, including the Environment Agency, Elmbridge planning officers, the Friends of Hurst Park and the Hurst Park Residents Association.
We have now been advised by the Scouts that they are considering a revised application, and that they will be holding an Open Morning on Saturday 3 February from 10 am to midday, so that interested residents and organisations can look at their proposals and express their views. The Open Morning will take place at the Scouts Hut at 193 Walton Road, and we would encourage anyone with an interest to attend.
UPDATE – 16 March: We understand that the Scouts have now submitted a revised planning application, but that it has not yet been validated by Elmbridge Council.
