Parking Controls in Molesey

A number of residents  have contacted the MRA recently about difficulties associated with parking in their roads, and asking whether it would be possible to introduce some parking restrictions, for example yellow lines to prevent parking on corners, or timed controls to prevent all day parking.

On street parking controls are the responsibility of  Surrey County Council (SCC).  SCC’s Elmbridge Local Committee (which considers issues relating to parking controls) decided in February 2015 to adopt a new parking review strategy, which will involve carrying out comprehensive reviews of different parts of the Borough in turn on a three year rolling programme.  This will run from April 2015 to March 2018.  In 2015/16 it will look at Cobham (including Stoke D’Abernon and Oxshott), followed by Weybridge.  In 2016/17 it will consider Molesey and the Dittons, followed by Esher, Claygate and Hinchley Wood.  And in 2017/18 it will review Walton and Hersham.

So the current expectation is that the Molesey review will commence around April 2016.  SCC says, however, that people can submit requests about parking controls now, and that these will be considered at the appropriate time.

If you want to make requests you can therefore do so now, and it will be considered when the Molesey reviews starts in April 2016.  Requests should be sent to: The Parking Team, Rowan House, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ.  Requests should include the proposer’s name and address, the location of the parking restriction and explain why they think the restrictions are needed or should be changed.  If  someone wants to speak to SCC before sending in a request they can call 0300 200 1003 or email

If there is anything local residents would like to discuss before making a request, please contact any of our Local Councillors.
