Queen Elizabeth II Reservoir – Planned Work
We have been advised that Thames Water is planning to conduct major work on the Queen Elizabeth II Reservoir, beginning in April 2021. This is part of essential maintenance work which needs to be carried out every ten years.
Much of the work will be carried out underground on the inlet and outlet pipes that feed the reservoir, beneath Walton Road and Boormans Field respectively. To access each pipe, they will first excavate two forty-metre-deep shafts, before inspecting their condition, repairing signs of deterioration, and removing obstructive items that are likely to include zebra mussels (an invasive species now commonly found at our reservoirs).
Thames Water is currently undertaking survey works to assess each site’s ground conditions to establish the exact programme timescales, but they expect to be working on this until April 2022. More information is available on the Thames Water website here
