Royal Cambridge Homes Site – Planning Inspector Overrules Development Refusal
Last year Elmbridge Council’s Planning Committee refused an application to demolish the Royal Cambridge Homes buildings in Hurst Road, and build a new 32-bed Care Home along with 60 Extra Care Age Restricted Apartments. In reaching its decision the Committee concluded that the plans would represent an overdevelopment of the site, and that its excessive scale, mass and height would have an adverse impact on the character of the area am the local street scene. The applicants subsequently appealed against the Council’s decision, and a Planning Inspector has now allowed the appeal, which means that the development can now go ahead.
