ST.LAWRENCE SCHOOL, CHURCH ROAD, EAST MOLESEY

This is very early notification and there are not yet full details, but residents should note that the governors of St. Lawrence, aided by the C.of E. Guildford Diocese, has been successful in winning a 100% funding bid to the government to replace their ageing building with a new building which will be very much fit for purpose. The present building dates back to 1974 and has a roof design which is now not weather proof, plus there is a need for significant other repairs and modernisation of facilities, such as computer linkage. On investigation of the options, it became clear that the most economic option was to build a new school. This is now under design and will eventually be subject to a planning application to Elmbridge B.C. Once the new building is in place, the present building will be demolished and the present floor space turned over to a mixture of parking facilities and open space.  Those responsible at St.Lawrence School should be congratulated in their skill and foresight in making and securing this successful bid which will result in greatly enhanced and very modern educational facilities for Molesey children. Residents are asked not to make enquiries on this matter at the moment, as since the design work is only now starting, only the information given in this article is available. Clearly, when there are more details available, local residents will be consulted.
