Travellers at Hurst Recreation Ground, Molesey
Following the unauthorised gypsy/traveller camp at Molesey Hurst Recreation Ground, late on 5th March 2015, the Council’s Gypsy/Traveller Liaison Officer has visited the gypsy/travellers accompanied by the police to carry out an assessment required under the legal protocol for dealing with unauthorised gypsy/traveller sites.
The Council is now progressing papers in order to apply to the Court to repossess the land. A court hearing date will be set by the Court and will be known next week.
The gypsy/travellers have refuse bins on site and our grounds maintenance contractor carries out site litter clearance where practicable. The site will be re-secured and any remaining litter completely cleared when the area is repossessed by the Council.
